Here are the key biblical principles for raising godly children.
Prioritise Family Devotion
Deuteronomy 6:6-7 - "Impress [God's commands] on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up."
Make regular family Bible reading, prayer, and discussion a priority to instil faith.
Model Godly Character
Proverbs 20:11 - "Even a child is known by his actions, by whether his conduct is pure and right."
Children learn more from your example than your words. Model Christ-like character, integrity, and devotion.
Discipline with Love
Ephesians 6:4 - "Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord."
Discipline should be rooted in teaching, not punishment. Correct with patience, wisdom and a heart of love.
Teach Right from Wrong
Proverbs 22:6 - "Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it."
Help children develop a biblical understanding of morality, sin, and the need for a Saviour.
Cultivate Relationship
Psalm 127:3 - "Children are a heritage from the Lord, offspring a reward from him."
Invest quality time to nurture strong, loving bonds. Children are a precious gift, not a burden.
Rely on God's Strength
Isaiah 40:11 - "He will tend his flock like a shepherd; he will gather the lambs in his arms; he will carry them in his bosom, and gently lead those that are with young."
Parenting is a high calling - rely on God's wisdom, grace and power rather than your own.
